Update: day 45...my longest day yet!!! 108 miles, 10.5 hours, over 2000 feet of vertical climbing and all of this was done on 1 road! I woke up early this morning and got on the road at about 6 am in Casper Wyoming. It was cold, around 40 degrees, so I had to bundle up with my warm gloves and 2 long sleeve layers. After about 30 miles I was able to strip a layer and change to my regular gloves. The highway had a fair amount of traffic considering it was 100 miles between Casper and Shoshoni and no other exits in-between. Anyone on that road was in for a long haul. There was one rest stop at mile 55 where I stopped to make lunch. I was planning on stopping for lunch at mile 45 where hells half acre was but it is fenced off and has no benches or shade so I decided to head on down the road to the rest stop to eat instead of cooking on the ground in the sun. Hells half acre was absolutely amazing and really did remind me of a mini Grand Canyon. The colors and shapes were really off the charts and I know the pics I took did the place no justice!!! Other than that wonderful geologic anomaly the first three quarters of the ride was fairly bland (except for the occasional wild pronghorn antelope) and mostly high desert terrain. The last quarter was really reminiscent of the drives we use to make in Arizona up toward the lakes and the Grand Canyon. It was filled with colorful canyons and buttes. Wonderful to be able to slowly ride my bike through. The scenery brought my mood back up since I was kind of glum today for a little bit. Today was a long and strenuous day but in the end it was rewarding. I really like to say that I rode over 100 miles in one day!! Its a great feeling, especially since I was loaded down heavier than usual because I had to pack extra water because there were minimal services, actually the only place was the rest room stop on mile 55. Once I made it to Shoshoni I stopped for diner then asked where I could camp but all the places were in the opposite direction of where I was headed so I had I stealth camp on the wind River Indian reservation, unfortunately or fortunately (Im not sure yet, everyone has been warning me about the reservations but I am feeling fine at the moment). We will see how the night goes. Tomorrow I am going to try to make it to Dubois which is another 80 miles away with some serious climbs up to the elevation of about 7000 ft. Thanks for the love and continued support everyone!!💚💚💚✌️✌️✌️👽🌐🚴
