Update on Anne and Rebecca: Rebeccas been resting all day and is feeling much better. She is bruised and was feeling bad from pain meds, but is feeling better after resting. She needs to wear a splint on her arm for a week. So far, so good. The local news will be interviewing Rebecca tonight about the accident. Anne is stable and is on paralytics, painkillers a respirator and sedation until she can have an MRI done. The MRI is to look at her spinal cord and see how serious the effects of the fractured and swollen vertebrae will be. Her collar bone is broken. All the ribs on her right side are broken. She has a contusion (bruise) on one lung. Her liver is in bad shape, but they stopped her internal bleeding yesterday. The hospital continues to monitor the pressure in her abdominal cavity and are hoping that her body will clear the excess fluids without needing surgery. They dont know how the injured kidney is, but will be looking at that more after the MRI. Though they would like to, they cant do everything at once. I think that covers it. The hit and run driver is still in jail. Apparently, she hasnt made bail yet. (And, yes, it may be small, but that makes me happy. I hope she takes this time to think about what she did and I hope she never drinks and drives again.) Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts. Im sure theyve helped. When someones in surgical ICU, stable is great news.
