Update on Caleb... First I want to say I am sorry it has been so long since we have updated. Life seems to be moving at a breakneck speed these days. I wanted to take a moment share with you some of the things that have been going on in our family recently. First Caleb. Caleb is doing so great! I am attaching a couple of pics. One is of him this afternoon playing choo choos and the other is his certificate that he got from graduating Occupational Therapy! As we mentioned some time back, Caleb participated in a brand new study that was being done at Vanderbilt. It was an intensive Occupational Therapy that lasted for 12 weeks. Caleb worked 1 on 1 with 2 therapists, 2 hours per day, 3 days per week. After graduation the therapists said he did great and that we should have the results from his testing this week to see how much he improved. We can tell a huge difference in his speech, his memorization of letters and numbers, especially in letters in his name. He is also learning to write the letters in his name. Just yesterday as Tiffany was working with him, hand over hand, he successfully wrote all the letters of his name! He is learning to count, is almost potty trained, and is becoming more and more independent. One thing that I LOVE now is that almost every day I get a call from Caleb on the phone. He likes to sneak mom’s phone away from her, search for my picture on her list of contacts, and call me. It’s too cute! We have a new home program we are doing with him, and since graduating the intensive program, he will now take about a 9 month break from Occupational Therapy at Vanderbilt. Colby is doing well, and is now about to enter 2nd grade. We just spent the summer doing a home school “summer program” with him, to help him get up to speed with reading and math. I am happy to say Tiffany has done a superb job with working with him and teaching him. Connor is now 3 and has become quite the outdoorsman. We have a little garden outside and out of all the kids who want to come out and help, Connor is the only one. Every day he asks me, “Can we water the garden today?” We haven’t been able to water it in quite a while with all the rain we’ve been having over the last few weeks. “No son,” I’ve been telling him. “Not today. God watered it for us!” Chloe is growing up fast. She is talking like crazy and has certainly become the little princess in the family. She has her own opinion and is not afraid to share it, especially with all her rowdy brothers! I am working two jobs, and still ministering wherever God has me minister. And Tiffany is working hard at home with teaching the kids, working with Caleb’s therapy, and being a super-mom. Many of you have asked about the book. Man that has been a project! The book is 100% done. We have gone through 3 years of writing, re-writing, editing, and have gone through about 8 revisions. Most recently we spent about 2 months hammering out a really nice book proposal according to current book proposal standards. All that is needed is one section that has stumped me—a section about marketing that I have no clue how to finish, and neither does my editor. We made contact with someone at Thomas Nelson who, by coincidence, works in the marketing department, and who happens to be a friend of a friend on Caleb’s Facebook page. We exchanged emails a few days ago and she agreed to help me finish up that last section, a part of the book proposal that will only be about 2 paragraphs. Once that section is complete, I have a short list of literary agents, a list I got from another previous editor at Thomas Nelson. I will send the proposal to these contacts, and prayerfully God will connect us with the right literary agent. From there, they will submit the book proposal to the publishing house. As we have said all along we will most likely send it to Nelson first. They will review it for a couple of months and let us know if they want the manuscript or not. If not, then we will send it to another publisher. Thank you for continuing to pray for us. I cannot tell you how encouraging it is, even after all this time, that so many of you still contact us and drop notes just to say hi, to say a prayer, and to check in on Caleb. It means the world to us, and I know your prayers continue to make a difference in his life and ours. Thank you. Blessings.
