Update on Gunnar: hes stable with his oxygen levels and all. The plan was to go to Egleston tomorrow but as of today no beds in the pediatric cardiac unit available. They are going to call and check again tomorrow. Gunnar is high priority so it wont be long until he gets there. The nurse said once hes there they may wait at least 24 hours before the surgery. The surgery is a must ; unftly that wont change. His heart condition is called Truncus Arteriosis (TA) type 1 which means he has one main vessel instead of two so they have to go in and divide it and place a conduit. He will have to have at least two more surgeries thru -out his life as he grows. Without the surgery he either gets to much or too little blood in his lungs. Im trying to explain bc Ive had a few people ask. They wont let him eat before the surgery bc it could cause gastro problems and hes getting hungry :-( but they got some iv nutrients goin thru his belly button. We cant hold him bc of his belly button iv. :-(. As for me I may not be discharged til friday. My insurance will allow a extra day. Im getn more mobile , feet swelling up. Then if Gunnar is in Macon over the weekend the hospital may let us stay in the room for nesting if space available. They will be transporting Gunnar via ambulance to Egleston (get outta way Mcd peeps lol ) sorry for long post just updating everyone at once and tryin to explain Gunnars condition. He will have to have open heart surgery when he gets to Egleston and Im one nervous moma. With Jesse Gifford. Night night peeps. Thanks for the prayers.
