Update on Jezreel: first I am really sorry I havent updated before now. It has been very busy here at ETCH. The doctors seem to be in agreement on what is happening with JEZREEL. They feel it is a progression of the mitochrondrial disease. He is getting breathing treatments every 4 hours. He is getting vest treatments which shakes his body to help keep congestion loose. He is now on a machine called inexsuffalator or cough assist. This machine blows air into the lungs and then pulls it back out. This is to help him produce a cough and keep the congestion loose. He loves it. He giggles and begs for more treatments. Tomorrow we will have a consult to set up a sleep study. Although he has always passes them they need to find out if apnea is now occurring. not all of the oxygen levels dropping has occured during sleep. Some are during awake hours also. If he has apnea he will require a c-pap machine. If he doesnt it sounds as if they will order a bi-pap machine to help with these episodes. Tomorrow they may also do a swallow study to find out if he is aspirating when he eats. I will update more tomorrow as the doctors come in.
