Update on Joe Walley: Monday, July 14 7:30 am Joe had a quiet night. Hes been running a fever of 100 degrees to 101 degrees through the night. At the 6:00 am visit, they encouraged us to talk to him and hold his hand. He tried to open his eyes to see us. Ive told him about all the visits, calls, messages, etc. He tried moving his hands. Anne Marie and Micheal were able to get him to respond as well. They are replacing the smaller vent tube with the larger tube at this time. Hopefully this will allow more air in his lungs to force the pneumonia out. He is still sedated to a certain level but they reduce the meds and increase the meds as needed. He is on 90% oxygen at this time. We all got rest last night. My mom stayed in Laurel to rest yesterday. She will be back this afternoon. I even think Joes sisters and brother actually slept last night as well. As we begin our 6th day in ICU, I am counting my blessings. My family and friends are amazing. I didnt realize how much I needed Micheal home until he got here. I dont even know who all planned and implemented the logistics of getting him to Waynesboro that night, but I will be forever grateful that I could put my hands on him. His plan to to fly back Sunday so he can finish out his Centrikid camp. My church family has been my rock. Even Magnolia Baptist church in Laurel where I grew up has sent people to pray with us. Im not sure how people go through times like this without the support of a church family. I have felt the prayers. At times, I get this feeling of peace and calmness and know that someone is holding me up in prayer. I want to thank all the churches who mentioned Joe yesterday in their services. I have heard of several places who had special prayer for him. We were given a prayer cloth from one of the churches to place near him. That touched my heart. Hopefully I will have a better post this afternoon. I will probably wait until after I speak with the doctor tonight before I update again. Writing these updates has been so therapeutic for me. They will also serve as a journal for Joe to read when he is able. He will be amazed at how much he has been prayed for and loved. Love to you all, Belinda
