Update on The Dirigo Group Recall that the overarching purpose of The Dirigo Group (TDG) is to ensure that the human race will persist into the indeterminate future. The Aegis Society will take the initial lead by building shields to protect a representative sample of the human race in the face of all known manmade and natural disasters. The representative sample is defined as 30 million people with the caveat that other private and public initiatives will permit many, many more to survive and thrive. In fact, TDG hopes that a combination of all such efforts will provide shelter for all people living on Earth at the time of the disaster. Aegis is projecting one thousand years to finish its mission, with present plans projecting ten million people shielded in a global network of 10,000 Phoenix Villages™, ten million shielded in a global network of 100 AEGIS Centers™, and ten million shielded in a network of 1,000 space settlements. The plans are for the funding foundation to be derived from franchise businesses set up with a perpetual and irrevocable requirement to donate 10% of earnings before taxes to TDG, which will then funnel 80% of this total to Aegis. The lion’s share of Aegis funding, however, is expected to flow from the global network of 100 AEGIS Centers™. The fly in the ointment is that no single business organization has continued to be profitable for one thousand years so perhaps the most crucial element is to devise a new way to operate Aegis and its supporting franchise business networks. The theory of Relativistic Organizational Design (attached at groups.yahoo/neo/groups/DirigoEnergy/conversations/messages/139) will be adapted for this purpose. Instead of using the acronym ROD, this method will be referred to as an internal win-win competition, or IWWC, which will be set up, operated, and maintained by TDG. In IWWC, ten thousand (10,000) standard boundaries will provide for full global coverage. A business franchise set up within each standard boundary will act independently to achieve three general purposes - maximize profits, maximize customer satisfaction, and maximize employee satisfaction. The high performers will then help the low performers with the highest rewards (recognition, bonuses, and advancement preference) given to those high performers who are the most successful in helping the low performers to improve. Thus, the winners help the losers to make everyone potential winners. Each business will be set up with 10,000 shares of voting common stock with one share held by each of 10,000 franchises aligned for full global coverage. This will place control of corporate headquarters with the franchises by giving them the power to elect both the Board of Directors and the corporate management team. Being a franchise Officer (President, Secretary, or Treasurer) in the top ten percent of all franchise Officers is a prerequisite to be a candidate for election to the Board of Directors and/or the corporate management team. TDG, itself composed of 10,000 local chapters, will oversee the election process as well as any and all employee advancement and termination decisions in the associated franchise businesses. In the beginning, the IWWC standard boundaries will be aligned to service an average of 700,000 potential customers but a given boundary could include as many as four million or as few as forty thousand living within the area. In the United States, a standard boundary will coincide with each of the 435 boundaries for a U.S. Representative, one for the District of Columbia, and one in each of the other U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Northern Mariana Islands). The other 9,559 standard boundaries required for full global coverage will be set later.
