Update on Tim Tozer Tim is doing ok they say. He still is ICU at Strong. So far no dialysis needed but are keeping a close eye on it. He had at least 12 gal. of fluids pumped into him at Unity and hardly any was coming out his catheter. This fluid built up in his body making his only kidney overworking and it was shutting down. All of his organs, heart and lungs were compressing and not functioning properly and he could hardly breath. He also was over sedated causing him to not breath on his own. Strong says they are repairing the damage done first, then work on what caused the pancreatitis, which they think is a blockage in his gall bladder. He escaped his tie down last night and pulled out his ventilator, but they replaced it and doing ok with that now. He is alert and comprehends now. He can only communicate by nodding yes or no. He will still be on the ventilator for another day or two until he can completely breath on his own. Cant wait to hear what his first words will be! He also has had no nutrition since that birthday cake last Wednesday and they will be putting a nutrition solution in his IV. I myself, have complete confidence knowing that he is progressing rather than deteriorating. Today is my first day back to work and I am having separation anxiety but have been keeping contact with the docs and they will call me right away if anything arises. I have been with him mostly 24/7 through this whole thing, and I am glad I was. I feel like I was fighting for his life! I cant imagine how his condition would be if we didnt get to Strong in time. Wait until I tell you the whole story! He has 24 hour care in his room at all times which is great! The nurse stays right in there! Much better than the other place having 4 patients for one person. The Kidney Transplant Team and docs visit him daily and review his charts and labs to be on top of things. I am confident in saying the changes made were in the knick of time and saved his life! I know all those prayers had something to do with it! I will be heading up there right after work to see my love. Brother Dave is there now and the family is taking turns.
