Update on animal cruelty investigation: A dog found dead in a suitcase, floating in a St. Petersburg canal, belonged to a disabled couple. The dog was hit by a car and died. The owners were unable to pay a fee to dispose of the animal and were not allowed to bury it near their apartment complex. They put the animal in the old suitcase and disposed of it in the canal. Police are awaiting the results of an SPCA necropsy to confirm.
