Update on our first week on the island :) Were getting very settled in our gorgeous house, our pool is an everyday occurance for us and the pups (we dip them in and us for a cool down). They are adjusting great, loving the amazing beaches as much as we are! Im still adjusting to not having any a/c, we have it available in the house but electricity is almost 7x higher here so we choose not to run it, we can spend our money in better places :) We enjoy the short rain showers to fill our cistern, and are very conscious of what we use. No need to have to call the big water truck in if we dont need to. The constant breeze makes the heat very bearable. Were still getting used to driving on the left side of the road... Im constantly repeating to myself stay on the left, stay on the left. Haha. The natives and implants here have been overly generous to us, we couldnt be more lucky to have found such a great place with truly sincere people. Its extremely humbling. Kirk starts orientation on Monday along w his white coat ceremony and then true classes begin the 25th. I start orientation at the hospital on the 25th and the following week Ill start in their ER. I got to tour their ER today and Im very excited about this new adventure! We still have not been able to pick up the Blazer, fingers crossed for Monday. I have to keep reminding myself everyone works on Island time... which is a concept Im trying to adapt to :) Im currently in search of a vehicle, so its only our rental for now. Its also been crazy to see prices on things at like the grocery store. We sure arent in Illinois anymore! They have no law for open containers, which means its legal to drink and drive. You can drop in any grocery store/gas station/roadside stand and grab a single beer or more to go. You see people doing it constantly, which is still hard for me to get over thinking Im not doing anything wrong! We had an earthquake the other night (we had no idea) and i started freaking out after i heard about tsunamis but apparently its extremely unlikely d/t the way the plates lay. I dont know much on that subject, just glad to know its highly unlikely. Ill have more free time next week and plan on getting my blog up and running for all of you that have been asking. We again want to thank all of you for the amazing support in this surreal adventure and look forward to many visitors! Miss you all! Xo
