Update on recent call and thank you...................... I have recieved several calls, emails and messages in the last couple of days asking me if I was ok. At first I was perplexed at why I was getting these calls. To start off I am doing well and fine. I had not been injured in a call for service the other night during an arrest! I have been in training all week to update my law enforcement certification as all trained police officers must do on a yearly basis. As to an officer being injured last week I have been told that an incident did occur but not to the degree that has been rumored throughout the community. I do not have anyother details about this incident or I would fill you in. Several of these calls were quite funny with the way I was supposedly injured. If you catch wind of these stories take them for what it is worth and have a good laugh! The people who started my injury story must not have anything else better to do that start such things. In fact one must consider their realiabilty, truthfulness and credibility. If it was not an election year I would named them here.. Assaults and injuries of a police officer in the line of duty is not a joking matter. In my career I have been injured twice that took me a trip to the hospital. I saw no dishonor in that. But for people to make up stories about police being injured is childish and counter productive. I had the honor to have worked with Danny Hay who was killed in the line of duty in my early years in policing as a young man. When the first calls came out it was reported that a young policeman had lost his life. My family began recieving calls giving them their condolences. Can you only imagine what went through? I would like to thank everyone who has called me and my family asking if I was ok. It makes me feel that I am appreciated for being the Mt Olivet Town Cop. For the rumor starters, shame on you. I thought better of you before this. I shall be more than happy to let everyone know the truth. Credibility, truthfulness and honor is a better avenue for success than rumor mongering. Thats again for the calls for my well being. It is appreciated and shall not be forgotten. Back to work Monday and looking forward to being back.
