Upon reading this article posted by a friend of mine, it is nice to see someone else is asking some good questions... some of the most important questions. However, this open letter to Pauline Marois is incomplete. What will happen to the region of Montreal if it decides to have a referendum to separate from Québec? Is it even possible to come up with a valid or should I say a legally acceptable question for separation? The Supreme Court of Canada ruled that Québec does not have the right to unilaterally secede from Canada. Nonetheless, the nine justices expressed the opinion that the other provinces and Ottawa would be obliged to enter into negotiations with Québec if voters in Québec unequivocally expressed their desire for independence. A simple majority of votes, however, would not suffice. What is the acceptable percentage oui vote to be clear that it is unequivocally expressed... 50%, 60%, 70%... more? The Clarity Act (known as Bill C-20 before it became law) is legislation passed by the Parliament of Canada that established the conditions under which the Government of Canada would enter into negotiations that MIGHT lead to secession following such a vote by one of the provinces. The Clarity Act makes it unequivocally clear that Québec can never be unequivocally clear. Since there is no basis for oppression against the Francophone society that is accepted by the International Community, and if the referendum vote results for the path of non separation, is this the acceptance by the people of Québec (who are Canadians) to put forth the accusation that an act of treason has been committed by all the members of the PQ in so forth as they where elected to govern a province and not to divide or create a country? Who will represent the people in this accusation... Canada? Or, how will it be possible to separate Canadian Crown Land and the Québec National Territory. What regions, sectors or voting tracts may separate if the people of the industrial centers like Montreal or surroundings refuse, where there is no majority acceptance. Can the natives separate from Québec with land claimed? Québecs leadership is weak and based solely on emotion, no logic and certainly not on economics. The PQs separation threat has been limiting Québecs economic success for over 45 years. Montreal for all geo-economic reasons should easily be the center of economic power and wealth in Canada... we are one of the poorest of all the large cities in North America! If it was to happen... it should have happened with René Lévesque on May 20, 1980, Quebec referendum on its sovereignty-association plan. Today, the PQ are a bunch of ignorant, stupid idiots. Todays PQ only know how to destroy out future. They should all go to jail. https://thesuburban/article.php?id=2793&title=An-Open-Letter-To-Queen-Pauline
