Urdu is second official language in Telangana: CM Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday informed the State Legislative Assembly that the State Government was contemplating to implement three language formula with Urdu as the second official language in Telangana State. Replying to a question raised by MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and others, the Chief Minister said that in nine districts of Telangana - Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, Medak, Adilabad, Mahaboobnagar, Warangal, Karimnagar and Nalgonda, Urdu has been declared as the second official language and it is being implemented. Further orders were issued Vide GO Ms No 545, GA (OL) Dept., dated 21.12.1999 and GO Ms No 835 GA (OL), Dept., Dt: 7.11.2007, authorising District Collectors to convert one post of typist as Urdu Typist and one post of Senior Assistance and Junior Translator, following the recruitment rules. The Chief Minister, however, said there was no proposal to set up Second Official Language Commission as the monitoring body for implementation of three language formula.
