Urgent Special Needs foster Needed! Meet Oxford! This handsome man came to us a little over a week ago. The gentleman found him a week before and could not find his owner and could not keep the dog, so he brought him to us. He mentioned that Oxfords back legs seemed stiff and would give out a lot. We took him in and made him comfy. As the days went by, we noticed his balance getting worse, and he could no longer stand sometimes. He was taken to Waipahu Waikele where it was discovered that it looks like he has a defect of his L2 & L3 vertebrae. They appear to be shorter than the rest. They put him on 3 days cage rest and on medication. His medication makes him have to urinate frequently so he will need to be walked outside every other hour or so for very short, controlled walks. The Vet didnt rule out congenital/neurological defect, but said that hopefully his back will fuse since he is still young. Being here is not good for Mr. Oxford as the heat seems to cause it to swell more, hence the noticeable deterioration in his condition. We are looking for a foster who is able to take him out to potty almost every hour due to his medication, with no small children, and no other dogs. He needs to be in a calm, quiet household with AC and a loving caretaker is home most of the time. If you think you may be able to help him, please send us a message.
