Uri inhabitant runs short of Water ZAFFER NABI Uri,Aug 01: Score of womens came out their homes and staged protest in front of Assistant Executive Office (AEE) Uri against the shortage of water in Mohalla Soden Patchgham of village Bimyar of Tehsil Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Barmulla district. Reports said that the residents of the village are running short of water from past two years and have seen much difficulties to get pure water.Ater 2005 earthquake the water pipes were fully damaged and due to lack of care by the department still repairment work of the water pipes has not taken place. Residents blamed that we are facing this huge problems from past two years.We have to drink contaminated and unhygienic water which we bring from a river.Before 25 years our village was fully developed through every corner but after earthquake everything destroyed here especially water pipes which still are not getting repaired. In our village there were six linemans who were appointed there but when ever we visit there we always came to know that they are absent.Abdul Rashid,a foreman was also appointed there.He betrayed us by saying that if you want wire pipes for your village the whole village should gather a sum of Rs 20,000 so that I can buy the pipes for you.We trusted on him and payed a hefty amount to him but we don’t know there was breach of trust.”they added”. Meanwhile,Residents of Uri said that Uri Complex is also running short if water from past 15 days and they also requested the PHE Department to look into the matter but till now they didn’t got any response. “Within two days I will visit the village and I requests the residents to give a written letter against the foreman.I assure them strict action will be taken against him,” AEE Uri Sheikh Tayib said.
