Use of Dania (Coriander]: In a recent report entitled” Spicing up water purification” by Emma Stoye, the new research suggests that coriander could be used to get safe drinking water. Saina Husain, a student of Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, US, presented at the 246th ACS National Meeting & Exposition, Ground up, that leaves and stems (sookha pisa hua dania) can remove nearly 20mg/g of nickel from solution in around 45 minutes and 145mg/g of Lead in just 15 minutes. She says that “ Our goal is to make some kind of ‘teabag’ that could be manufactured on a large scale,’ and then introduce that to a container of water, leave it in for a certain amount of time, and remove it to get rid of the contaminating metal.’ She adds that other plants which can bind metals such as chromium, copper and arsenic have also been identified, so ideally several different ones could be combined into a single device. So dear people start putting some dania leaves in the jug of water and enjoy double benefit – pleasant flavor and more pure water.
