Usuthu confirm hosting Manchester City Barclays Premiership giants Manchester City will descend into the Zulu nation stronghold for a Nelson Mandela Day Invitational friendly match against Kwa-Zulu Natal giants AmaZulu on 18 July 2013. “We have reached an agreement with the event organizers which is Matchworld and as of now we will play Manchester City on the 18th July,” said AmaZulu Marketing Manager, Lunga Sokhela. “All details pertaining to tickets sales will be released soon.” Last year Usuthu played current English Premiership champions Manchester United in an MTN Football Invitational match and Nelson Mandela Day, which finished 1-0 in favour of United at Moses Mabhida Stadium. The game also coincided with AmaZulu’s 80th anniversary celebrations. Under the leadership of current coach Craig Rosslee, AmaZulu have a relatively new side but will boast a complement of both experience and youthful talent in the new season. New City Manager, Manuel Pellgrini, will also want to use the trip to test his charges ahead of the EPL season. Before the Etihad based side takes on Usuthu they will play SuperSport United on 14 July 2013. “We are continuing from where we left off last year and give all South Africans a chance to see another great team in action” said Lyndon Barends, Executive Chairman of Matchworld in a press statement.
