LYNCHBURG DISTRICT TRAFFIC ALERT June 15-21, 2014 LYNCHBURG – Highway work requiring road/lane./structure closures is scheduled, weather permitting. Traffic may be restricted. Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator Route 29/460 interchange near regional airport – Bridge painting will take place from 8 pm to 6 am, Sunday evening through Friday morning. Est. comp. 9/30/14. Route 714 over 29 bypass, Altavista– A temporary signal, signs and other traffic control devices will be used to alert motorists to single lane during bridge work. Est. comp. late-June. Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14. Charlotte County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator Phenix – Crews will clean pipes and ditches and add shoulder stone. Various – Crews will work surfaces, boom axe, mow and respond to customer concerns. Various secondary routes–Crews will mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14. Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow, clean pipe and ditches, and respond to customer concerns. Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator Contract Paving operations: Whitehurst Paving Company, Inc. will be paving the following routes during a two-week period beginning June 2: 614, 652, 653, 710, 725, 740, 741, 744, 812, 865, 866, 880, 891, 903,930, 933, 938, 1405, 1502 and 1503. Please be alert to presence of manpower and equipment. Route 642 – Work is progressing. Signs and other traffic control devices in place. Est. comp. 6/17/14. Bethel – Crews will be working on drainage issues. Cluster Springs – Crews will boom axe at various locations. Cluster Springs and Volens –Crews will perform ditching operations. Various – Crews will perform surface work, mow and respond to customer concerns. Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator Route 29 Bypass, Gretna – Crews will repair washouts behind guardrail. Route 29, Gretna – Crews will work low shoulders. Route 685 (686-690) – Road closed for bridge structure replacement beginning 7/7/14. Est. comp. 9/26/14. Detour: 686 to 683 to 649 and back to 685. Route 924– Road closed 6/30-9/19/14 for structure replacement; detour via Routes 665 & 638. Brosville, Kentuck and Rondo – Crews will ditch at various locations. Mt. Airy and Rondo – Crews will boom axe at various locations. Mt. Airy – Crews will limb trees. Rondo – Crews will clean pipe on secondary routes. Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customer concerns.
