Pension / Medical) Introduction - International marine company wants to employ a Logistics Controller position, based in Durban. KPA - to provide support to all operational activities by controlling the entire logistics function and ensuring that all activities are in accordance to company standards and procedures. Minimum Requirements Qualifications: Matric Freight Forwarding Training Custom Clearing Training Drivers License with own car 7 years experience in logistics 3 years middle management experience supervising at drivers and employees in fleet / logistics Must be living in Durban to apply Computer Literate - Word, Excel, Internet, eMail Basic Skills - writing, mathematical, general communication Interpersonal Skills - Teamwork, Customer Service, Conflict Management, Assertiveness Supervisory Skills / Management / Leadership Skills Job Specification Fleet & Driver Management ° Maintains a daily resource board indicating daily availability of vehicles in the fleet ° Maintains the fleet with the assistance of the company approved workshop ° Manages a preventative maintenance system for all vehicles in the fleet ° Ensures and records that all vehicle departures are done in terms of standard procedures, and that all the proper documentation is completed and filed ° Be available to assist with driving duties during busy periods, or when required ° Ensures that all driver documentation is filled out, checked, signed off and properly recorded and filed ° Plans all routes in conjunction with the drivers, and ensures that planned routes are adhered to and that deviations are properly recorded and justified ° Assists with securing cross-border permits and other related documentation for international journeys ° Adheres to all SHEQ requirements on all sites, and ensures that drivers are in compliance with this ° Monitors and controls driver hours and takes decisions to prevent over-exertion by drivers ° Provides loading plans for trucks and vehicles and supervises loading procedures to ensure that overloading does not take place. ° Actively investigates more cost-effective transportation solutions and utilisation of vehicles and staff ° Plan, organize and direct functions and activities related to the procurement, servicing, operation, maintenance and repair of vehicles. ° Assure vehicle-related functions and activities comply with established laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. ° Monitor, evaluate and determine priority of vehicle maintenance, servicing and repairs ° Review the work of mechanics and other maintenance personnel to assure compliance with established standards, guidelines and procedures. ° Direct off-site maintenance, repair and recovery functions for roadside vehicle malfunctions. ° Coordinate and direct the operation of the fleet tracking including automated record-keeping and billing functions ° Oversee and assure proper input of related data including cost per vehicle and invoice information ° Assist with the processing of insurance claims involving company vehicles. ° Monitor and evaluate Company vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair functions to identify needs and determine financial effectiveness and operational efficiency. ° Provide consultation to company personnel concerning vehicle maintenance and repairs ° Assure adequate spares and consumable levels to meet maintenance, servicing and repair needs. ° Develop and prepare the annual preliminary budget for vehicle maintenance, repair, operation, and servicing Logistics Planning ° Liaises with all project managers / divisional heads and regional managers with regards to their logistical requirements ° Controlling the issuing and receiving of all plant & equipment to and from stores ° Ensuring that all documentation, processes and procedures for recording movement of P&E are adhered to ° Respond to inquiries, resolve issues and provide detailed technical information regarding related laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures for cross border mobilizations ° Liaise with shipping lines & agents for preparation of export / import documentation ° Provide the necessary support for custom clearing & freight forwarding using road, air or sea transport for out of country mobilisations ° Manage logistic process flows from end-to-end and develop new cost saving strategies to assist operations Staff Supervision ° Assumes responsibility for the training and development needs of all drivers in conjunction with HR Department ° Assigning and controlling daily duties and activities for the drivers ° Complete performance agreements for all sub-ordinates within given time frame and per the process requirements. ° Identifying training and development requirements and assisting in identifying appropriate courses; ° Ensure fair distribution of work General Functions Analyze and review budgetary and financial data, control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations Provide management reports as required Performing any ad hoc duties within the incumbent’s scope of ability Must live in and around KZN area Must be computer literate Must have drivers license and own car High calibre person required.
