VFW Legislative Alert: Urge Congress to Pass Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Bill Today! Background: House and Senate VA leaders reached a compromise on a bill that will begin to fix the VA health care system. H.R. 3230, the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014, provides access to VA care with an expansion of contracted care in non-VA facilities, new hiring authority for additional healthcare professionals, renewal of 27 VA outpatient clinic leases and more authority for firing VA executive employees. It also accomplishes longstanding VFW goals of providing in-state tuition for all GI Bill recipients and Frye Scholarship benefits to spouses of service members who died in the line of duty. Most importantly, it will provide veterans access to the care they have earned and desperately need now! The VFW demands that every member of Congress vote yes on this critical piece of legislation before they leave for summer vacation.
