#VIC #Weather #Corp Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds for the West and South Gippsland forecast districts Effective Date: 02/10/13 9:43 PM Expiry Date: 03/10/13 7:00 AM Current Situation Damaging winds continue to ease across the state and the strong cold front over eastern Victoria will be over the Tasman Sea on Thursday morning. Damaging winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are forecast for the West and South Gippsland district tonight, mainly coastal. Peak wind gusts up to 120km/h are possible about the coast, also with thunderstorm activity. Winds are continuing to ease from the west and the warning is cancelled for most districts. Further moderation is expected overnight. The Severe Weather Warning for the South West and Central forecast districts and parts of the North Central, North East and East Gippsland forecast districts has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary. Maximum wind gusts have been 142km/h at Hogan Island, 128km/h at Mt Gellibrand, 118 km/h at Mt Buller and 115 km/h at Cape Nelson.
