VISIONARY LEADERSHIP The ability to use the present circumstance or situation to forecast the future is the mark of conscientiousness and to use the same to make strategic plans towards an ideal goal depicts greater intelligence and powerful imaginative capacity. Any person worthy of these can rightfully be regarded as a visionary leader. However, futuristically minded people together with ingenuously imaginative and creative people are unfortunately in terrible short supply. This why leadership keeps entering into the hands of quacks and mediocre just as the best qualification for any leadership position is experience of a relative and relevant leadership position together with functionality at leadership capacities. In as much as government arose as a matter of expediency and exigency; being just conscious of the moment is not usually the best approach and focusing on the immediate issues alone without serious recourse to the remote, proximate and the future aspects of the matter under attention is again not an effective leadership. This is because such a style betrays and sabotages human ingenuity and creativity. For instance, if there is gross impassibility, what it means is that transportation in its entire ramification needs an urgent and conscientious attention not just road construction but a wholistic treatment of the problem of impassibility. Now it will be abysmal hopelessness and recklessness for a leader to go back over and over again to the same project meant as a solution to a problem. For example a visionary and conscientious leader cannot construct the same road more than once within the contract tenure. It is a leadership discipline to construct, deliver and commission a project as proposed and specified. Visionary leadership is an attribute of a disciplined and conscientious mind just as a reckless, haphazard and rash-rush person can never attain a futuristic vision let alone manifesting a creative and imaginative ability capable of yielding a buoyant and blissful future. In Imo State of Nigeria for instance, Late Barr. Sam Mbakwe manifested this rare visionary capacity and today after 30 years, his legacies still abound and his name still resound in the whole of the old Imo state which now comprises Present Imo state, Abia and Ebonyi state. Today the reverse is the case. The state now exists as the ghost of itself just minimally sustained by past glories. What really happened to the thinking, planning and general administration of the several successors of Dee Sam Mbakwe has remained unfathomably worrisome and the worst of them all is the present administration which has shown gross lack of governmental tact and skill together with a total lack of resolve to do something accurately and correctly right. Consequently, industrialization the product of vision and future mindedness receives only a lip service In this election year with 21st century developmental benchmark as the grand goal, the electorates of Imo state are hereby beckoned on to rally in support of him who is most poised for visionary leadership and who is most ready to live up to the obligations and responsibilities of such a trustee post. From their fruits, we shall know them. From amongst the four contenders of the most important position in Imo state, who stands out distinctively in matters depicting of thorough thinking and strategic plans towards securing the future of the state and that of the citizens? Who amongst them simply manifest vision? The philanthropic antics of Owelle Rochas Okorocha and Dr Osmond Ukanacho together with the shrewd business mentality of Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho CAN NEVER yield the much needed capacity for visionary leadership. Rather, it is the conscientious representation and public stewardship grounded in selfless service delivery capacity and mentality of Hon Emeka Ihedioha that can really and strategically plan and consequently yield the much needed vision. It follows therefore, that Sir Emeka Ihedioha is the most disposed for visionary and selfless leadership. As a buttress, the electrification projects he attracted and facilitated; the completed jetty and mini wharf at Owerrinta; are correct and good enough positive indices of visionary capacity. Also the well articulated plan to diversify the income of the state is still another attestation of his ability to go beyond the now into the future. Sir Emeka Ihedioha from all intents and purposes has shown serious commitment in securing the now and the future. He knows that most of the problems of today were the neglects and inabilities of the yesterdays. Therefore, let all Imolites of good will simply do the needful: VOTE SIR EMEKA IHEDIOHA FOR THE SECURITY OF THE FUTURE, VOTE SIR EMEKA IHEDIOHA FOR A UNIQUE VISIONARY LEADERSHIP, LONG LIVE IMO STATE!!!!
