VMA, Miley and the Oxford Dictionary PUBLISHED for the first - TopicsExpress

VMA, Miley and the Oxford Dictionary PUBLISHED for the first time in February of 1984, the Oxford Dictionary is one of the best word banks of all. Finally, the words derp, selfie, twerk and phablet are now included as official vocabulary of anyone who knows and speak real English. And for the naysayers of Modern English, this may be bad news but if one is to face the music, change is inevitable. Archaic words are not mainstream; reading is still a very good hobby so for the ‘techy’ people, update your .doc and office files or just click “add to dictionary” so your document files will not display red lines. As per Oxford, “derp” means stupid speech or action. So even when you make a dumb facial expression, then that is DERPing. Phablet means a device that is a cross between a tablet and a phone. So did you just buy the new S-Note III recently? It is a ‘Phablet’! Browsing the Internet, you may see people misusing the word SELFIE. From the word itself, “SELF” so a selfie is when you take a photograph of yourself using a camera/phone. It does NOT mean a mug shot. It does NOT mean a face picture. Finally TWERK; it can be a noun and a verb at the same time. Who was the most famous celebrity known for TWERKing pretty recently? Miley Cyrus! Twerk means to dance to a popular music in a provocative manner involving hip movements like poking and getting poked or having the intention to be poked. Entertainment-wise, at the much concluded Video Music Awards, Robert Thicke, the American-Canadian singer/songwriter’s song mother has allegedly claimed that her son is a victim of that dance number that Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter just did. Cyberspace had never seen so much busyness in identifying what particular word to use on that action. For those who are very much updated, the word is called TWERK. Twerk it!
