Laurant Montiller said, this event is also a good opportunity for up and coming artists to gain onstage experience and is a good stepping stone for their future musical careers STORY: Deputy Director of French Language Institute Laurant Montiller said during a press conference on Thursday to promote the event that the Music Festival held every year in June aims to promote music exchange and encourage both Laos and French artists to go on stage to showcase their skills. According to Laurant Montiller, More than 160 artists, including both Lao and foreign performers, will join the programme showcasing their skills at the event tomorrow June 14. The event will be held in two venues: at French Language Institute from 10am to 3pm featuring traditional music and the Lao-Japan Budo Centre from 3pm to 11pm providing pop and rock music. The festival is sure to draw a great crowd with entry being free of charge at both venues. A variety of Lao performers such as Leprosy, Sandwich, Baitong and Metalic will share the stage and their experiences with foreign artists such as the group Lucas, Simon and Loic from Aubagne in southern France. Seasoned performers Lucas, Simon and Loic, who draw their inspiration from art rock and alternative music, have performed on stage more than 2,000 times in France and will pass on their experience to Lao artists. Lao artist from Indee Records Mr Tony of Leprosy, known for his single Sanya LomLom Laeng Laeng , will perform at the Music Festival and expressed his gratitude for being able to join such an exciting event. Lao group Sandwich said they were also keen to join the festival for the first time to perform their hits Houbao and Khomeed along with previewing their new single for audiences.
