VORTEX -Vehicle Operations and Rescue Tactics Level 1 (live-fire). The purpose of this law-enforcement program is to increase a patrolmans survivability against heavily armed offenders in round a motor vehicle. The primary focus is to provide law-enforcement officers with practical emergency vehicle deployment techniques through the use of systematic methods of instruction. The live-fie course brings to light the complexities associated with the motor vehicles confined space involving: emergency evacuation, counter ambush and citizen/officer rescue. The program will commence with a live fire ballistic laboratory where students will compare different types of ammunition against a multitude of surfaces including window glass, engine block and exterior vehicle paneling. This course will be offered to full-time in-service law-enforcement personnel. The tactics, techniques and procedures are for previously trained first responders. All students must be her mind this course is physically strenuous while at the same time mentally challenging. The combination of strenuous physical and mental activity is in preparation for the realities of real world justifiable use force. Next class scheduled in Illinois is April 6-7, 2015.
