Vacations aside, were busy doing the work that we think will not only help the Bitcoin ecosystem in general, but also help others in need. As you all know, we have been actively trying to help Aislinns Wish raise funds for an operation that will save a babys life. We were able to get a modest but very helpful response from the Philippine Bitcoin community and we are very very thankful. We raised 1.785 BTC in a few days from 9 contributors from our small community. We decided to post it on Reddit, and in less than 24 hours, contributions totaling 1.456 BTC was donated by THIRTY different individuals from all over the world. This takes us to a total of 3.24 BTC or ~P66,000, in a matter of days. It is simply heart-warming to think that some strangers, somewhere in the world, with nothing to gain, decided to send a few dollars to someone across the world who needs it more. For me, this is an example of one of the true strengths of Bitcoin: Strength in Numbers. If you think your P50 or P100 will not help, well, you are wrong. It does, and if we all thought the same way, all of a sudden our tiny contributions adds up and makes a difference. Imagine if, instead of just liking a page, we gave a pack of cigarettes worth of Bitcoin, and hundreds if not thousands of people do the same thing. We can, as a collective, make a huge difference in anything we focus our energy on.
