Vale: Ms Margaret Arundell It is my sad duty to inform the school community that MHS Teacher Librarian Ms Maggie Arundel has passed away following a long illness. She served as a Librarian at Prahran and Coburg High Schools then Hawthorn Secondary College before joining Melbourne High School in 2008. As a teacher librarian she was a strong advocate for both the old and the new. She enthusiastically encouraged a love of reading and was particularly interested in encouraging students to explore wider reading through programs such as the Premier’s Reading Challenge. At the same time she was an early advocate of information technology serving as Director of E-Learning at Hawthorn SC for ten years including teaching at VCE level and introducing robotics into the curriculum. The School has expressed its deepest sympathies and condolences to Maggie’s family on behalf of the whole MHS community. We will publish details of funeral arrangements once these become available.
