Valentino Rossi is back and he’s very happy about it Valentino Rossi has a big smile and a bounce in his step these days, even after a punishing 27-lap race at Jerez. The Italian legend seems to have regained his drive and he’s enjoying every minute of the battle to be the one who beats Marc Marquez. Indeed, so far he’s the only one who has come close to challenging the young Spaniard. The nine-time World Champion marked an impressive history this weekend. Whilst the news was all about Lorenzo’s 200th race and Marquez’s 100th race, this weekend was Valentino Rossi’s 10th premier class podium at the historic Jerez venue. In fact, this was his 149th podium in premier class racing and his 185th in Grand Prix racing. Compared to Rossi the accomplishments of the others somehow seem unremarkable. The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider has been a striking figure on the tack this season, it doesn’t seem to matter were on the grid he starts a race, he just moves through the field to the front like the others were merely fixed obstacles. Others have tried but they just can’t seem to move as quickly and smoothly as he does. Valentino Rossi says he’s very, very happy. He loves Jerez and he loves the crowd that gathers there, but then, has he ever met a crowd he didn’t like? He was especially happy to be on the podium, he hadn’t earned that honour at the circuit in Andalusia since 2010. The old Rossi confidence is also back, he said he took a chance and chose to ride with the extra hard tyre on the front and it worked out well for the Yamaha. At the end of the race he said he was sliding a lot but was able to keep a good rhythm and when Pedrosa closed the gap Rossi had enough left on the tyres to push his bike to the max and stay ahead. The master said that he is very happy with his second podium of the season. His fans say they’re happy to see him back!
