Valley shuts on S .A .S Geelani’s Call A shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley on the call of Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani demanding dissolution of Village Defense Committees. Markets, other business establishments and educational institutions in Srinagar and other towns of the Valley remain closed. Heavy deployment of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police have been deployed in many parts of the city. Earlier Geelani called off the Shut down call of Friday on the request ofHurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. Geelani later urged the people to observed shutdown on Saturday against VDCs. Mirwaiz had made a fervent appeal to separatist organizations to desist from calling shutdowns on Fridays. “RSS, VDC members and Jana Sangh have virtually waged a war against Muslims in Jammu and have planned for ethnic cleaning in said areas,” he alleged in a statement.
