Vanguard Itsekiri women plan protests over amnesty programme on October 15, 2013 / in News 10:34 pm WARRI—ITSEKIRI women, under the aegis of Benin River Women Forum, BRWF, have resolved to embark on protests over what they alleged was “hatred and discrimination against Itsekiri youths, who are beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s amnesty programmes,” by officials in the Amnesty Office, Abuja. The women, who took the decision after their meeting in Koko, Delta State, yesterday, were drawn from the various Itsekiri communities on the Benin River in the Warri North Local Government Area of the state. Spokesperson of the group, Mrs. Florence Nanna, said: “While beneficiaries from our neighbouring ethnic group are being pampered, getting what is due them and are being sent out for training and educational programmes, those from Itsekiri are discriminated against, maltreated and denied what is due them.”
