Veni Madhavas Departure Ceremony. Malvern Hills Friday morning - TopicsExpress

Veni Madhavas Departure Ceremony. Malvern Hills Friday morning we cremated the body of an old friend Veni Madhava prabhu (known as Bhakta Bruce to many). He had a complicated heart condition and passed away in a Birmingham Hospital surrounded by his loving children chanting the Holy Names. After the cremation, some 40 friends and family members gathered in the Church Hall in Colwall on the beautiful Malvern Hills. The ceremony was very simple. Venis son Madhu had brought his Dads handmade altar to the hall (see pic) Veni was a Master carpenter and could make practically anything at all from wood. This beautiful altar is just one example. (see pic.) His 3 daughters made fresh flower garlands for the Deities. Then there was Kirtan and a few remembrances. I took the opportunity to read a few verses from Srila Prabhupadas Bhagavad-gita As It Is. I especially appreciated the wise words of Venis brother Vaughan. I managed to catch it in video (see below). Then there was a delicious Feast of dahl, rice, 2 subjis, samosa, chutney, puri, salad, sweet rice, banoffee pie, and some little sweets made by Govatsa. Special thanks to Gopikanta and Govinda Mohini for the bulk of the feast and to Susan for the lovely kofta. Veni is a very nice Vaisnava, and he will be missed by many of us. Now he has been called on to other things. Fare The Well Brother Hope to meet up with you again. Your friend Bhaja PS. Amazingly we learnt that the old timber framed Church Hall where the programme was held had been built at the exact same time that Lord Chaitanya was leaving the planet. That is 1533. Nice touch
