Venting time :P ..... We so often focus on the rules and regulations of Islam, the dos and donts, that we start to think of Islam as dry and boring, as demanding and harsh. We completely forget that the seerah of RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) and the Quran itself are infused with something more than ahkaam... they are filled with a sparkling, magical beauty that lights up the heart and makes the imagination quiver. The miracles of RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) are not mere discussion for academic discourse, but true miracles which, if we were amongst those to witness them first-hand, our souls would tremble in awe and delight. The splitting of the moon - just imagine watching the full moon, huge and glowing in the desert sky, literally splitting in half! The moon, the subject of much poetic praise, the comparison made to so many fair maidens and, in fact, to RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) himself... can you imagine watching it breaking apart, hanging in the air in two halves, and then coming back together? SubhanAllah! Al-Israa wal-Miraaj... RasulAllahs description of every step of that journey completely beats out any fantasy novel or sci-fi description of outer space/ inter-stellar travel; the reality he experienced was more intense, amazing, and mind-blowing than any CGI special effects created for a movie. The angel Jibreel, the Buraaq, the journey to al-Masjid al-Aqsaa, witnessing scenes from Hellfire, and actually visiting every single level of Paradise, and most incredibly - passing the point of asSidratul Muntahaa, and having no barrier between him and Allah except a veil of light... SubhanAllah. Let us always, always remember the richness, the beauty, the sheer miraculous, enchanting, fascinating, breathtaking-ness of it all, of our Islam. It is a gift from Allah. Appreciate it.
