Venue review - OK I tried the new coffee shop in Ripley arcade this morning, first impressions, love the way it opens up to the thoughafare and they have bench seats tables and could see this area having quiet a buzz, when I was there at least 5 - 8 were served. I feel this biz is targeting walk through traffic get food and coffee and go and thats the way its set up and its in a prime location for that type of biz, with the Ripley arcade access from James St to commercial St. However seeing this is a new biz I wont be too critical but the outside set up was great but this morning, with a chill in the air, it was rather fresh outside, I would hope eventually they will make the side room which is just a bean storage area into inside seating. When i was there i ordered a turkey and cranberry and salad sandwich and a berry and white chocolate muffin both very nice. The coffee (which is why i was there, as it is a roasting house) was OK. I stupidity thought if I went to a coffee roasting cafe I was going to get this coffee that smelt like nectar of the gods and when I removed my lid angels would sing to me a chorus of wonderous praise of enlightenment but it was just a coffee nothing spectacular at all which was disappointing. The service was good, no menus were available (I wanted to see or read more about the paleo dishes they do there) but they didnt have any. Bottomline - Look am I gonna run back there for another coffee in the near future, probably not but ild go back for another sandwich and a muffin. So I recommend others try it and share your opinions (constructively) as a new biz needs to try things, test things, get feedback and iron out the creases. But worth a visit just to see it brighten up the arcade, I could see this area becoming a great food court.
