Verdict on The Last Ship. Its a big dumb story with an America Saves The World plot and a story about which it is hard to maintain perspective. It is a Michael Bay story, through and through. But... maybe its because its a series rather than a film, and it is therefore harder for Dear Leader to have the authorial stamp that has defined his films... but its actually a well-written, halfway-thought-out story. Eric Dane doing a Chris Evans impression is actually very workable, and they give him stuff to do. Plus, if Michael Bay is making this, he has to delegate some of his Transformers and TMNT duties to people who know what theyre doing. Which can only be good in the long run.
