Vermont Tibet Festival is a day that brings multi cultures and diverse people together for a day of fun and learning. This event also brings our own people together. The day before the festival we gather for dance rehearsal, food preparation and hall decoration. The elders like to sit and watch our rehearsals, the kids play around, the men decorate the hall, the women and some men prepare food. Its an evening filled with laughter and fun, and same is for the next day during the festival. Every time the evening before the annual Tibet Festival, I think of University of Vermont (UVM). The thought naturally comes to me and I am sure it comes to other Tibetans in Vermont too of how grateful and helpful they(UVM - Asian Studies Program) were in bringing this festival to us Tibetans and to the Vermont Community. Here is a link of the first UVMs Tibet Festival uvm.edu/~uvmpr/?Page=article.php&id=559. It is due to their initiative and kindness that we now get to enjoy the Tibet Festival every year and this event has become like an engine that keeps our culture and values running and moving from one to the next destination. I have only thank you to say to UVM and specially to the late Director of UVM Asian Studies Program - Professor Peter Seybolt. He was a distinguished scholar of modern Chinese history. He started and worked with us in continuing the Tibet Festival for few years.
