Verse 10 is often sung, quoted and written about but not widely obeyed or put into practice. Silence is a rather rare commodity in the world most of us inhabit. We extol its virtue, we appreciate its purpose and esteem it in others such as those who live in a cloistered and isolated environment. But when was the last time you heard nothing but your own breathing? Pause for just a moment right now to see if you can hear nothing but nothing. Noise fills the world where most of us live; witnessed by the car that pulls beside us at a traffic signal with so much noise pumping from it that it causes your car to almost begin vibrating. Have you recently heard a worship leader in church quote and then lead the congregation to obey these words?.....The Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silent before Him or simply, Be still and know that I am God. God says there is a connection between our silence and our knowledge of the Holy.
