Very frustrated mom who needs advice. High functioning son 11 - TopicsExpress

Very frustrated mom who needs advice. High functioning son 11 started a private school that specializes in his type of peers. 6-12 grade. There are 5 children in the classes with 6 teachers. He has a mentor who is his math teacher. We feel like the school is not tailoring classroom environment, curriculum and homework to his individual needs. We pay out of pocket. I have had several emails and had several emails. I feel they are not listening to my small changes and continue to treat him and his classroom and homework as they would a typical 6th grader. Since their is no IEP what am I supposed to do. I feel like the requests and suggestions I am coming up with are reasonable and do not seem to be listened to or communicated to the other staff. Any thoughts? Suggestions? On how to get the school that I am paying for to cater to my sons needs to help him blossom and grow which is why we chose the school for the small class size and individualized attention. For example. I have asked 3 times for his daily assignments to be detailed on a daily basis or broken down instead of on Monday getting the words quiz on Friday. Nothing else gets sent home and no daily breakdown of what he can do to prepare for the quiz on Friday. Not a difficult request and continually no change and continually son does poorly on tests. No one even checks to see if he brings home his book on the nights before test. This should be a no brainier for a school that caters to kids with ADD, high functioning Aspergers or other issues that hinder their full learning potential. PLEASE help or tell me Im expecting too much for my tuition.
