Very interesting research by the LSE: What if most of the real - TopicsExpress

Very interesting research by the LSE: What if most of the real social divides across the continent are within states rather than between them? (thanks Wolfgang Blau for the link). I have been asking myself what that means for media. What if City vs village, urban vs rural and poor vs rich region is the real distinction that we should focus on when we think of media products? Given that English is basically lingua franca of Europe, how would a digital journalistic venture look like that tries to see that world from that point of view? The article reminded me that the main reason we gear our digital media towards a national, rather than a social demographic audience is the ad industry that wants to sell their products to s specific customer in a specific country.
