Very sad news that, on the eve of the Stradbroke, Australian racecalling icon Wayne Wilson finally lost his battle with cancer, aged 66. Wilson called the Stradbroke 29 times prior to his retirement in August 2010. He first called a race in his hometown of Gladstone at 12 years of age. RSN listeners were most fortunate to enjoy Waynes magnificent calls on our network over many years and he was a true friend of the station. The 1992 Stradbroke won by Rough Habit is a perfect example of Waynes electrifying, emotion charged style of commentary. bit.ly/1kGU3DQ RIP Herbie Brisbane Racing Club Doomben Racecourse Eagle Farm Racecourse
