Very sad news to report; Don Stone, the father of Retired WLPD Sgt John Stone, passed away in his sleep last evening after a long battle with dementia. He was 78 years of age. Don, or "The Mayor" as he was known to some of us, will be missed. He served our country with the US Navy and was retired from Michigan Bell. Don was an avid boater and was a member of the Swan Boat Club in Newport MI, where many a trip to Put In Bay originated on his boat. The Retiree board sends our deepest condolences to John and his family. May Don Rest In Peace.
