Very sorry to everyone who has been waiting for photos and info on the beetle, I have been away and put the car in to have a few bits made right before doing a proper for sale advert. I want to start by saying it kills me to be selling this car. RHD 55s dont grow on trees and with the current early beetle market being as it is I will probably never get the chance to own one again. If I could afford to tuck her away for a few years I would but unfortunately with 7 days a week work load and another bus project on its way we just cant afford to keep her. Its a very cool car and i want it to go to a good home. So here we go: Writing this out has made me realise just how much money we have spent on this car to get it right. RHD UK 1955 Oval Window Beetle. The car is Pre 1960 so tax and MOT exempt. I can have an MOT put on the car if the new buyer requires. Exterior: Correct 1 Year only Reed Green. The paint is just the right side of tatty some has been blended and bodywork all sorted professionally by Ian at Ikustoms. I wanted the car to be used so we decided to preserve rather than restore. Door locks work. Correct full W deck lid and pose nose. Still has the original number plate and patina blade bumpers. The Heart tail lights are NOS shells from my own stash. Interior: Original Bottle green Vinyl interior in extremely good condition with all door cards. Correct door furniture, switches, speedo, sun visor, mirror, gear stick, steering wheel etc… It has a rank chrome hand brake lever but I have the original one to fit before it goes. Beautiful complete cloth headlining with no sags or tears. I had a full carpet and oval rubber floor mats fitted this weekend by Mark at MadMatz. I am very happy with his work. Floor pan: It is the correct pan for the car and requires no welding. It has had one or two patches where an old seat belt mount head been fitted (the patches were to close a hole NOT fix rot) Suspension: The car has been lowered properly. It is a 2 Narrowed beam with Dropped spindles was fitted to the car when I bought it. The beam has been tidied up and re greased. All link pins have been tightened and checked. The rear has been treated to a new set of KYB GR2s. A full bump steer kit has been fitted to the front and the steering box has no play. Small parts of the pan have been properly fettled for more ground clearance. I think of this car as lowered not slammed it is very drivable, It dose not snake around on the road like some and the ride is comfortable not rigid. I drive this car through speed bump city to get to work and dont hit anything and am happy to jump in it and do 100 miles to the coast with no worries. My wife recently drove it on a 9000 mile round trip to Belgium. Brakes: Porsche pattern disk brakes all round, I can honestly say this is the best stopping beetle I have ever driven. All new wheel bearings have been fitted. Electrics: The whole car has been completely rewired by M.J.P VW The semaphores and all lights work as they should. Running gear: The engine is a very strong 1641 I have never had any problems with this engine at all. It starts on the button every time first turn and runs cool. The gear box is the one point on the car that I am not 100% happy with but I want to be as honest as possible. A while ago the gear box developed a knock, after stripping it down we found that the fulcrum plates were damaged and have replaced them both sides including new drive shafts. Now since then the beetle has been fine to drive and has done plenty of miles. But… I think if you listen very carefully you can hear an occasional noise maybe from the box. So, I need to do more investigation. I have another gear box, whatever deal is done can be as the car stands, or with another box supplied (for the future just in case thats what its needs) or I can have a new box (or what ever it needs) fitted. I could have kept quiet about this but my reputation in this industry is important to me so honesty is always the best policy. Wheels: These are one offs they are OG Porsche 911 steels Re-rimmed in to original wide 5 sprint star rims with good tyres. The wheels are always a talking point. Accessories: It has a few nice period accessories in the photos, one or two are gifts from friends over time or from my own collection so wont be going with the car. Deals can be done on the others. I think thats about it.
