Would anyone who identifies as a Native American and has something to say about Washingtons team name please answer a few questions just by commenting on this article? I’m a grad student at the New School writing a blog post for Progressive Pupil that basically breaks down how the name is offensive through an analysis of indigenous social media posts and campaigns. You can answer one or all, just whatever sparks your interest. At this point I’m just seeing where the answers take me. Mainly, do you find the name offensive, and why? What is it that irks you the most? (Has the slur disrupted your life, childhood, relationships, etc. in any way you’d like to share?) Why do you think the average Washington fan denies that the name is offensive? Did you watch the 9/25 Daily Show segment on the controversy? What did you think? Did you watch the recent South Park episode on the issue? What did you think? Finally, is the cause gaining momentum? What do you think is working: indigenous blogs and social networks; lawsuits; protest and disruption of games; mainstream media coverage and satire?
