Victoria Police and the CFA advise that an excavator has gone through a gas main in central Wangaratta. The area has been evacuated until they can get the leak contained. Members of the public are asked to stay away from the area. Emergency services are attending to a natural gas leak in Ovens Street WANGARATTA. The ruptured main is outside the OvensMedical Group at 70 Ovens Street Wangaratta. Road closures Roads closed inOvens Street between Reid St and Ford Street. Evacuations: Have occurred fromall shops in the area including Safewayand Car park. Community is asked to keep away from the area. Further advice will be provided once the gas company has isolated thedamage. There is currently no threat to the community, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions. The next update is expected at 19/05/14 1:00 PM or as the situation changes.
