Victory Against Monsanto in Bremerton, WA Quick report from the Bremerton, WA city council meeting. We have a victory but it is short lived. The use of Glyphosate (Round Up) has been terminated on Bremerton sidewalks. Yay! Instead they are using Imazapyr (made by Dupont). Ugh. There are health risks with Imazapyr and it doesnt absorb well into soil. Basically meaning that if they spray this on sidewalks there will be LOTS of runoff into peoples land, streams, the Salish Sea, and environment. So victory but we now have a new focus. We want the public works department to adopt a safe, green, and organic alternative. We will continue to attend city council meetings. We want a green alternative to Imazapyr. We want a ban on bee killing neonicotinoid based pesticides. We can achieve this. Please write a letter to the editor of the Kitsap Sun on these issues.
