Video Cut Down of Ikirun Rally It is yet another Mega Rally. The train moved again! This time, it headed to the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency where the Aregbesola campaign team was received by yet another teeming crowd of supporters from the environs at Bonnke Crusade Ground, Ikirun. One clear advantage that this rally had over the others before it is the proximity of Ikirun to Osogbo which may have made it to benefit from restive party supporters who could not wait till when the train will arrive their respective domain before savoring the festive mood of Aregbesola’s campaigns. This campaign which took place at the Reinhard Bonke Crusade Ground at Ikirun was momentous! Attendance was earth-shaking! Solidarity was absolute! Ogbeni, himself was surprised at the turn out. The campaign sent out emphatic signals. It lived up to its billings and in fact surpassed expectations. It had all the trappings of the Awo campaign at Mapo Hall, Ibadan in those days. This is the image that should come rushing back to those who were aware of the good old times. Viewed from an elevated angle, one sees a sea of heads squashed in an expansive space. The work of Aregbesola keeps speaking for him. His character and interpersonal relationship with others keep speaking for him. His experience keeps speaking for him. His selfless nature keeps speaking for him. His honesty and prudent management keep speaking for him. His sensitivity to the plight of the ordinary man keeps working for him. His humble and unassuming nature keeps working for him. His strong mental alertness and creativity keep working for him. These are commodities, money cannot buy. The question could be asked: Who are the people at the rally? They are found out to be the ordinary people. They are clearly not the bloggers who stuff the net with misplaced and ill-conceived opinions. They are neither the people at the upper echelon of the society nor even the middle class. They are those at the lowest stratum. Thanks to God, but for democracy, they are the people that would have been denied voting rights. These are the people who can conveniently dedicate eight to nine hours, sweating under intense sunshine, for a cause. They are not the naysayers who ask others: What has Aregbesola achieved? They are the ones who are grateful for what the rich term as ‘little things’ but which make ‘heaven and earth’ to the ordinary man. The man who boldly and unashamedly say, ‘’I thank Ogbeni for providing an absolutely free and compulsory education for my children. I do not pay any fee at all including PTA levies, exam fees of any kind, and for taking care of all other details such as school uniforms, text books, instructional materials, good structures surpassing those the rich spend millions on for the education of their children and so on.’’ For these people, it is about belief. It is about trust. It is about total confidence. Ogbeni Aregbesola has convinced them without doubts in the last tree and half years and they are ready to follow him with their eyes closed. These are the people who Aregbesola has established bonds of filial relationship, affection and affinity with. These are the people that Aregbesola has vowed not to disappoint. These people will meet with Ogbeni at Abere Government House after August 9, election. A unique feature of this rally was the fact that Ogbeni perched on top of his coastal bus through the length of the journey from Osogbo to Ikirun acknowledging cheers from jubilant crowd that lined the route. On getting to the venue, the crowd exploded in delirious shout of ecstasy which Ogbeni responded to by springing on his feet standing on the bus to return the elation.
