Video translation- Ive been so well prior to diagnosis! How it all started was a swelling on my left neck about 6 months ago. I went to my GP who thought I had salivary stones and referred me for an ultrasound. Ultrasound showed swollen glands and I had a small biopsy from the swollen gland in my right neck. Biopsy showed nothing therefore more tests..... I had a camera up my nose and nothing was found and at that point I felt I was wasting their and mine time. Consultant wanted more tests so I went for a MRI of my head only. I went back for results and the MRI that showed me a picture of my skull with swollen lymph nodes down my neck and needless to say I was shocked and feeling queasy! Consultant booked me in within 7 days for a biopsy operation to remove a lymph node for further tests. Because the MRI scanned my head only...they found a shadow on the top of my chest that need further investigation and a CT scan was needed...I went for a CT. I had the biopsy operation leaving a very neat scar! Lymph node sent to Leeds for further investigation. I had complications as the CT showed that I had a collapsed left lung due to lymphatic fluid build up outside my left lung. Lymphatic fluid was drained successfully from my back. Ive cancer on of some of my lymph nodes causing blockage hence fluid build up. I will explain briefly...We have 2 systems in our body- blood circulation and lymphaitic circulation to fend off infection and to keep us immune. Ive cancer cells in some of my lymph nodes. Ive been diagnosed with Low Grade Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. Low Grade means that the cancer cells are slow growing and not aggressive. I will have more info on this later. Ive been in hospital 11 nights. I am having chemotherapy 3 weekly x 6 times. Then every 2 months for 2 years. I am well and thought I’d tell you about my journey.
