Villa thrash Namilyango 13-0 in Schools’ Tour opener, launch sms platform Sunday,October 12 SC Villa Schools’ Tour, 2014 Villa 13-0 Namilyango College It was a day of mixed fortunes for the Namilyango College students (Ngonians). Their school had hosted Uganda‟s biggest football club, SC Villa. However, their joy of hosting us was quickly dashed when we subjected them to a 13-0 mauling. But that was only on the pitch because the spectators kept the mood jovial. Goals from Samson Jakech (5), Victor Emenayo (4), David Bagole (2) and a goal each from Justus Anene, and Ivan Kiwewa gave us a convincing win. Villa is to tour various schools in a bid to spot young talented players and tap into the virgin teenage fan base. And indeed it paid off. Coach Sam Ssimbwa was impressed with the whole idea, stating: “It (The Schools‟ Tour) is good because I am sure by the end of the whole campaign, we shall have got some talented players. We also need these young fans. I am happy with it and I am embracing it to the end.” SC Villa President, Ben Immanuel Misagga, was the chief guest. He donated a set of jerseys to the school team, ten boxes of Villa Jogoo Water and five balls plus scholastic materials to Peter Otim, the „Ngonian‟ goalkeeper, who he chose as his man-of-the-match. “It‟s a tour we are taking to many other schools and we know it will benefit the team and the schools we visit. It gives these students a chance to get up close and personal with their favorite players. We shall also take up the best players and nurture them into our youth systems,” said Misagga. Villa launches sms media platform At the same function, SC Villa launched its one-stop center for information, the JOGOONEWS sms platform. Through this, the fans will be getting information on their phones everyday by typing JOGOONEWS and sending to 6868. After that, they will be receiving information regarding the injuries, fixtures, lineups and all the related news updates about the club.
