Vincentian among three arrested in St.Lucia Featured Saturday, 21 September 2013 Vincentian Frederick Rawlins is among three men who were arrested for drug related offences arising from an intercept of the pirogue “Pelagic” off Gros Piton, Soufriere about 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. 24-year-old Steve Matou of Gaillards-Bois, Guadelope; 27-year-old Sidney BouBou of Chemin de l’Esperaice, Guadelope and Rawlins of Gregs Village, St. Vincent, were charged when they appeared before the Second District Court in Vieux Fort on Friday, September 20, 2013. All three men were charged for Possession of a Controlled Drug and Possession with the Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug except Sidney BouBou who received an additional charge of Failing to Stop. The French vessel, was intercepted by the Police Marine Unit about 11 nautical miles off Gros Piton, Soufriere within the territorial waters of Saint Lucia, a police press release stated. Officers recovered about 27 packages of compressed, dry green plant materials suspected to be cannabis, the release stated. “The packages, occupants and vessel were escorted to the Marine Unit. Subsequently, the men were arrested and taken into custody for drug-related offences. The men are expected to be charged later,” the release added.
