Virginia Elects a Democrat Governor...and Finds the Libertarians are Real! A very close race in VA resulted in Terry McAuliffe emerging the winner with 48% of the vote and 1,064, 093 votes followed by GOP candidate Kenneth Cuccinelli with 45.6% and l,008,554 votes and Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis stunning the state with 6.6% and l46,311 votes, a spoiler with absolutely no budget rallying to his campaign dissatisfied voters from both national parties. The GOP is blaming their defeat on Sarvis but in this nation nobody owes anybody a vote; a vote is a gift of trust that must be earned and not intimidated by fear, and 6.6% of the folks in Virginia decided to try an alternative candidate. I voted for Gov. Gary Johnson in the past national election and voted for Pat Buchannan in 2000; I considered both the best candidates in those races. Did I throw away my vote? No I cast it for the person I wanted to win. The Virginia race should be a wake up call that you cannot threaten people to vote for your candidate anymore! There is already a Libertarian candidate in the Florida governors race, Adrian Wyllie, and I have seen him campaigning in Gainesville and at festivals in Micanopy and McIntosh....and he is always accompanied by a platoon of supporters....with Scott and Crist the other options, expect Wyllie to become a very popular alternative with an expanded base of followers. There really is a new party in town and it may provide needed excitement in 2014 for people who share my view that Scott and Crist have demonstrated that we need an alternative to them!
