Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose god is the Lord. When we consider the countless blessings that God has abundantly lavished upon the U.S., one of the greatest He has given is religious liberty. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution affirms: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Thank God for this blessing! Millions throughout the world do not enjoy freedom of religion. They are prohibited from worshiping the one true god. They are persecuted and murdered for their Christian faith. Their churches are destroyed. Those with religious liberty should be grateful that they can worship the triune God and proclaim the Good News of the saving gospel of Jesus Christ! The greatest need every country has is for people to hear the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ as the only Savior from sin. Through Christ, our sins are forgiven and heaven is a gift given to us by God’s undeserved mercy and love! On our country’s anniversary, we thank God for our citizenship in a country where we are free to preach and teach and hear the Gospel.
